Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A Calcutta High Court division bench, led by Justice Harish Tandon, has granted permission to the ED to file a contempt of court case against the CID of West Bengal. This decision comes in response to the CID's failure to hand over Sheikh Shahjahan to the CBI as directed by the High Court.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court dismissed the urgent plea filed by the West Bengal government regarding the Sandeshkhali case. The apex court also refused to impose a stay on the Calcutta HC's order instructing the State to promptly transfer custody of former TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan to the CBI.
Responding to the plea, Justice Sanjiv Khanna said that the CJI will take note of urgent listing applications during lunch hour.
